How thin can we go - and why thinner isn't always better
Wall-Thickness Range| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| General structural wall thickness | 0.4-2.5mm |
| Reinforcing rib wall thickness | 40-50% of nominal, capped at 60% |
| Boss sidewall thickness | within 50% of nominal |
| Adjacent wall-thickness variation | ≤ 1.5×; beyond requires dedicated review |
Below 0.4mm, wall thickness lacks sufficient support during debinding, and the green body deforms under its own weight at high temperature. For thin walls under impact loading, closed-loop cross-sections (tubes/ovals) are noticeably more reliable than open cross-sections (C-/U-shapes).
